Proving electric bikes can be fun

The electric scooter and motorcycle industry has been booming lately. The growing trend towards green energy supported by various government incentives making them more affordable for the public.

Electric mobility solutions manufacturer Tromox has introduced the Mino mini electric motorbike, which was first revealed at the EICMA in 2019.

At first glance, the Mino could be mistaken for an electric Honda Grom, but that really wouldn't be doing it justice. In terms of design, the Tromox Mino features a rugged adventure-style design with that dual-sport beak and flat bench seat. The materials used to craft the Mino are all very high end with a crafted swingarm made with aluminium and a carbon steel frame. With a range of colourways available, there is sure to be a Mino to suit everyone.

The Tromox Mino is powered by a 2.5kW electric motor coupled to a 60V battery pack. The Tromox Mino can also achieve a top speed of around 45mph but is restricted to 30mph to meet the UK's 50cc learner legal restrictions. While in eco mode, a range of 70 miles is achievable. We expect this to fall to around half that using sports mode.

The Tromox Mino also features upside-down front forks, 180mm front and rear disc brakes, fully digital instruments that display the battery state of charge, speed, time, temperature, mode and odometer. Full LED lighting is also present, which helps to conserve power but also look and function well too.

Another key feature of the Mini is that it uses a mid-mounted motor, unlike the traditional hub motors found in most electric scooters. This gives the Mino an excellent performance advantage and also means the Mino can tackle hills with a minimal drop in performance. The Mino is also chain-driven, which is something I like. Most electric scooters are pretty silent, and while the Mino is still very quiet compared to the old combustion dinosaurs, the noise the chain makes is oddly reassuring.

Given the state of bike theft in the UK, potential owners will also be reassured to know that the Mino comes with a built-in alarm and GPS tracking system. The alarm will sound a warning tone first if it senses movement while armed, and if the interference continues, the siren goes off continuously, and the rear wheel automatically locks. It will also send a notification to the app to warn you if the alarm has been activated. Should the worst case happen and your Mino is stolen, you can also track its location live via the app.

While on the subject of the app, it can also turn your phone into a virtual key, so you dont need to carry any keys or fobs with you. it will also keep track of battery life, and service intervals making the Tromox a truly "Smart" bike

The Mino has just landed in the UK and is available to buy from dealers all over the country.
